Obviously, you will not have the personalized advice of an agency, but it allows you to save the price of the services offered by the latter. Indeed, the price of the ticket is the same whether it is booked online or in an agency, but it is the price of the service that differs. You already save between 20 and 60 €!
Use flight comparison sites
These sites offer you the best fare they have by checking the websites of travel agencies and online companies. There are many on the market and you will find almost the same prices everywhere, however, some are better than others with more or fewer options. For example, a flight with or without stopover, flexible dates, some propose a graph with the evolution of the price according to the period.
The comparator that I personally use is Skyscanner. Especially for one of its features that I like a lot: you can choose “All destinations” so that the comparator finds you the destinations with the best price on your dates. This is perfect if you don’t know where to go and want to be surprised.
These comparators then refer you to online travel agencies and I recommend testing several, as some agencies charge extra on the smallest option so it is sometimes more cost-effective to choose one that will appear as slightly more expensive in the flight comparator you used. Once you have the dates and the name of the company that operates on the flight you are interested in, you can also go directly to their website and see if the flights are not cheaper by going directly through them.
Do your research in private browsing
The sites that offer to buy airline tickets online are often designed to detect the searches you make and see which flights you are interested in in order to increase the price. In order to avoid seeing your prices increase, it is advisable to clear your browser’s cookies and do your searches in private browsing. This way, the prices will remain the same during your search.
Look at the offers of specialized sites
If you are flexible on your dates, I advise you to regularly take a look at specialized travel sites that put online discounted offers, last minute promos, etc…You can’t choose your dates and the length of your stay, it’s restrictive, but the prices are usually really attractive.
Examples of specialized sites:
Consult the sites of good plans
There are many sites whose specialty is to find good travel deals on the net. Whether it is promos, price errors, offers, etc… they find the best deals. To choose this option, however, you have to be flexible enough on the destinations and dates!
For that, I advise you of a site in particular: www.flightscanner.com.uk
Choose the right time
When to book a cheaper ticket?
The best way to get a good price is to book as soon as possible because a quota is reserved for each plane at the best prices. Once this quota is exhausted, there are no more interesting tickets except for a last minute destocking. The best period is January-February and September and more generally from Tuesday to Thursday.
Prices are subject to greater variations on weekends, so it will be more expensive to book on Saturday than on Tuesday. Prices go up if you book during school vacations, weekends, and public holidays. Summer is, therefore, the most expensive time to buy a plane ticket.
What time of year should I choose to go?
For the big day, if you can, preferably a weekday departure. Forget about Mondays and Fridays. As for the reservation, travel during off-peak periods, avoid leaving during school vacations, weekends, and public holidays. Also think about the calendar of the country where you are going, such as special events like the Carnival in Venice or Rio, the Chinese New Year…
Some sites allow you to search for multi-destination flights, which is useful when you plan to visit several countries without having to return to the city of arrival, and it is often less expensive.

Choose nearby airports
When searching, remember to look at the price from a border country if you are near several major international airports. For example, for Latin America, prices are often cheaper from Madrid than from anywhere in France. Add the cost of the train or plane ticket to get there and see if it is still worth it… or hitchhike! You can save up to 300€. The same goes for the destination country.
For example, to go to Senegal, prefer the Gambia, we find much lower prices for Banjul than for Dakar, especially since the border is really not far. This allows you to make real savings, especially for certain African countries where you can sometimes find incredible prices. For example, you will find a flight to Mozambique at 1,200€ compared to only 600€ for Tanzania, two border countries.
