The first thing you would sure notice with the Shark Light and Easy Steam Mop when you first see it (or lift it up, actually) is how light it is. True enough, this steam mop weighs in at only 3 pounds. This has probably spared me a lot of back pains as compared to other heavier steam cleaners, such as the McCulloch Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner. This sure offers a far, far departure from the effort it took to scrub floors the traditional way – with buckets of water and sponges and all – the whole nine. With this lightweight device, cleaning floors and other surfaces need not be a stressful job. If you live in a household with young adults, you may even get them to do the cleaning with a device this light (Sneaky, huh?)
Shark has patented the steam on demand technology, which means you will not lose any steam or water you have when you pause cleaning and when you have to transfer your cleaning from one room or floor to another. With the help of one button, you would be able to save up on all these resources and simply summon up steam when you want to, and let the device linger and hover over a problematic area for longer periods of time so that the prolonged heat could take care of deeply-rooted stains and spills on your floors.

You sure wouldn’t have any issues with putting the steam mop together even if it is your first time using such a steam mop. See, Shark has always been known for coming up with devices that are ever so user-friendly. All you need is to get the cleaning pad in place, fill the flask with clean water, plug and power on the device. After this, you need only wait 30 seconds until the steam mop is warmed up and ready to take on your floors and surfaces. You would soon find out after this that the Shark Light and Easy Steam Mop also boasts of its being easy to maneuver, not only because it is lightweight, but it truly is made that way.
Its water tank capacity is 230 ml, which to be honest, is not the best. Larger capacity tanks are more helpful since you don’t need to go back and forth the sink just to refill the clean water when you have a larger tank. A larger tank would mean a heavier steam mop, though, and frankly I prefer multiple sink trips than having to tug around a heavyweight cleaner that would make floor cleaning such a heavy chore that would require an entire day.
Now, there are a lot of things that could be improved about this model. For instance, Shark could maybe make the cord a little longer, since I absolutely hate having to unplug the device just to plug it again when I have to use it to clean the other room or the second story of my home, since that would mean having the unit warm up again. As for its swivelling motion, I understand how it can get pretty hard to maneuver when the floors are wet or super dirty, but it really is easy to use otherwise. I just hope that they get cleaning pads that lock dirt, instead of pushing the dirt around as they sometimes do when the floor is really messy. I don’t really mind wiping after I have steam mopped, but this might be a deal-breaker for other people. If your looking for a better Shark steam mop I would recommend the Shark Professional Steam Pocket Mop.
If it is your first time in years to clean stains on the floor, you could find more heavy duty steam mops out there who could do a better job than this one, but if you are a relatively clean person looking for an easy-serving steam mop just to clean regularly, then the Shark Light and Easy Steam Mop would truly be perfect for you.
