This is Benjamin. He was born in 2006, and diagnosed with Autism in 2010. He lives here with me, the Old Man and Manny–the 7lb Chihuahua of terror.
Some days are pure joy. Others make me want to drink. But most of them are just typical–well, typical with a twist.
I got tired of only finding blogs about Autism that spoke of “blessings” and “the best thing that’s happened to me” and “i wouldn’t change a thing”–rainbows and unicorns and lots of religion, frankly.
I wanted a blog that told the truth. The gritty, honest, profanity ridden and usually hilarious truth. Autism can be a burden. It can be a blessing. But mostly, it can be the thing that makes you take yourself less seriously, and appreciate and accept not only your child with autism–but yourself. And honestly–life gets a little easier when you do.
So, if you’re looking for inspiration–you might find it here. If you’re looking for rainbows and unicorns? Only if you want to see them mocked relentlessly. And if you’re looking for profanity and occasionally alcohol-ridden rants? well, pull up a chair.

I think I’ma like this blog
I’m not a drinker, but I’ll gladly whip up a virgin coconut something-or-other if having a drink in hand is a requirement for reading. Any excuse to drink coconut milk, really…
